A weekend in Ohope.........ooooh how relaxing, no phone, no washing, no groceries, no TV such bliss.
The beach is amazing, the pace is so slow, the people are friendly it reminds me of The Mount 25 years ago.  Hmmm now 25 years ago makes me sound old, could it be?
Well regardless of age life is great when you can have a quiet weekend in Ohope.
Still I have my computer on my lap though.  But work does not seem so much like work when it is in front of the fire at night while surrounded by family playing on the XBox, oops forgot to mention they have a TV, I have my back to it.  The quiet sound of some soccer game that they are playing creates soothing hum in the back ground with random shouts for the players as they try to beat one another.

My favorite picture for the week is this one I found on the internet.  It is now the back ground for several slides in presentations.  This year is going to be the year that I fill my kete with taonga - and the taonga is Te Reo Maori.

I am updating my  presentations for work to include Te Reo Maori.  Over the year I am trying to learn as much as I can through conversation with Te Reo Maori speakers.  To my absolute amazement Pere, who is a friend of my son Jared,  is a fluent Te Reo speaker, so she has helped me with some of my words.  Imagine at the end of the year if I could put all the Te Reo Maori words in my presentation and say them properly all by myself.  Now there's a challenge.  I will have to collect some base-line data - all the words I know, can say and use in the right places now and compare this to one year down the track.
